If you're going to be in the DC area in late March/early April, the National Cherry Blossom Festival is well worth attending. In fact, it's good enough to cause a visit. Every spring, a Cherry Blossom Queen is chosen, Chinese folk festivals fill downtown streets, and the Potomac Basin looks from a distance like it's being smothered by a giant puffy pink pillow.
