Henri Happily Ever After

Once upon a time, in a mall very, very far away, blogger Sanity Fair discovered the most wonderful candle in the world. She did not expect to find a marvelous scented light, because she was wandering in the strange land of Bath and Body Works, lost in a smelly forest created by the trolls of commerce and containing flasks scented like "black amethyst" and "butterfly flower" and not found in nature. Then, suddenly, she was saved by a knight clad in a brown apron and bearing a shield of package wrap and a weapon of shower spritzer. He told tales of a great artesian called "Henri Bendel" and told her that if she could brave the thicket of antibacterial hand washes and journey across the land of lip gloss, the candle of legend could be hers. For less than $20. She found the famed candle, and lived happily ever after - UNTIL Bath and Body Works stopped carrying them. Thankfully, as in all fairy tales, things were not as dire as they seemed. Henri Bendel on line still has the candles, for $30, in Amber, Apricot, Black Fig, Cinnamon Bark, Fig, Firewood, Gardenia, Lavender Leaves, Lemon Verbena, Pomegranate, Quince, Vanilla Bean, Vanilla Woods, or Coconut Leaves. Stock up!

Which is your favorite(s)? I am a big fan of Seda France-their candles, diffusers, and travel candles are all wonderful and their toile packaging is lovely. (Just in case Bendel's stops carrying them!)

my favorite, tragically, are the Jasmine and the Iris, which were ALSO discontinued. It's a sad world. I now prefer the vanilla bean and the peony is heavenly. Thanks for the Seda France tip - I need to check those out.

Skyla, I was just thinking about you the other day. A friend of mine in NYC just recommended Antica Farmacista candles. She swears by the champagne one. Didn't you also like the flg fragrance from Henri Bendel?

Coconut? I have an obsession with all things coconut...For some reason, coconut fragrance is becoming increasingly difficult to find. Mmm, heading over to that site this instant! Thanks for the recommendation :)

I need to hit the stores - obviously, there are more fairy tale candles out there than I realized. Thanks for the tips everyone! I can't wait to try some new scents.

I love the fig scent - one of my all time favorites.

How's the firewood? I <3 the Salem candle from dl&co, which smells like a bonfire. Alas, it's also $50 a pop, so a cheaper substitute would be most welcome!
