I have a love/hate affair with clutches. I collect them, display them, and rarely use them. I hear efforts are underway for a credit card phone, but until technology invents the credit card/lipstick/mirror/keys/pen/hairbarrett/notebook/mascera phone, there is little hope I'll be leaving the house with anything other than my 10-pound purses. But a girl can dream, can't she?
BE & D
Judith Leiber (a legitimate excuse to carry books everywhere I go!)
I'll take the Spade, Burch and Chanel please!
I hear you loud and clear though. What I do is I usually have my clutch tucked into my big bag. I carry my big bag to work and leave it in my office while I yank out the little clutch for lunch meetings etc. when I don't need to carry all my schmutz with me.
I'm in the city so I don't drive but I'm sure you could so the same while leaving the big bag in the car. This way you have everything if you need it but you just don't have to display it.
We are so on the same page with this. I need my cell phone, hair brush, wallet, makeup bag, glasses, sunglasses, calling card case, aspirin, pen, car keys, keys, tin of lemon drops, am I forgetting anything? I always end up carrying my large Louis Vuitton Elipse or one of my Marc Jacobs Stams because everything fits in. My clutches are pretty much objets d'art in my dressing room.
Beth - I'm glad to know I'm not alone! They really do end up being objets d'art, if charming ones. I'm currently addicted to a COACH resort tote with a leopard scarf on the handle... it's the only thing that holds all those necessities.
And I love that you carry your calling card case!
Townhouse - that's a great idea! I like the idea of a big "sneak" bag hidden in the trunk :)
That BE & D is divine! I adore it...as well as that Chanel, shown in the last photo - wonderful options - my mind is souring with outfit ideas!
I love clutches, but only get to use mine perhaps once a month - like you, I need a variety of things: wallet, mints, small cosmetic case, (full!) iphone, business card holder, hand lotions, purse size perfume...am I forgetting anything? Oh yes! My house!? :)
SF-I force one of my blog cards on anyone who will take one! LOL
I know what you mean about clutches -- so pretty, yet so impractical for anything other than the occassional evening out (and then my hubby has to carry my keys, etc. in his pockets for me). That said though, I ADORE the b&w striped clutch. So chic.
I have a wallet cum clutch that I adore. Then I can slip it in my 10 lb. bag...!
love the clutches from Kate Spade and Chanel and agree they're not practical for everyday.
very nice blog! and thanks for stopping by my blog.
