Southern Belle, Sanity Fair Style

Dear Friends,
This week I'll be taking some time off to relax and tour around antebellum Georgia, soaking up gorgeous plantation architecture... and probably more than my fair share of good country cooking :)  I'll post a bit as I go, and hopefully find some fun new things to share with you!

xoxo Sanity Fair
Well mercy me - I don't know which is more beautiful:  the house or the trees. May I have both, please dahling? This is Oak Alley Plantation, located in Louisiana (I know it's not Georgia, but I couldn't resist).

The Oak Alley Plantation is incredible. I can't believe I live so close & have never been in the deep South. I hope you have a restful blog break, & sip some mint julips for me too please under some of those wonderful weeping willows (not easy to say!).

All the best,
deb

Have a great time!

My father is actually an amateur Civil War historian, so we spent many a childhood vacations traveling around the deep South soaking in all the plantations, graveyards (he'd make my sister and I clear away debris so he could read the old tombstones...in retrospect, this is an odd way to spend a vacation), and old churches. As a reward for our good behavior, we'd usually hit up the nearest beach for the last few days of the trip.

My dear friend, I was so happy to be able to get on to your blog today! :) I'm not sure what is wrong with my computer, and I apologize for not visiting, for it's certainly not because I don't want to - I've greatly missed your blog...

What a striking place!

Have a fabulous time! I fell in love with Oak Alley Plantation when I was 10(?) and saw it in Architectural Digest. Still love it now. Quintessential Southern.

I love Georgia!! In fact, if I were ever to move back to the US Savannah would be top of my list of preferred places to live!

My mom and grandma and I went to Oak Alley in April and it was SO beautiful. We are going to do a post on our trip there! It was so fun to see what life was like back then!
