PAPER AND PEARLS INTERVIEW

My thanks to the lovely Rachel of Paper & Pearls blog and boutique! She interviewed me today about Sanity Fair - and how this little corner of the blogosphere came to be. Check it out HERE; and be sure to visit the rest of her blog and her Etsy shop for some fabulous jewelry!

The Designer Browser

Here at Sanity Fair, we prefer to talk about things we know something about, not things we know nothing about, and would probably break - a category that includes cars, computers, televisions, and anything with batteries. But what I do love is anything pretty and personalized for my laptop, from desktop to wallpaper, so I got kind of excited when a tech-saavy friend talked me into trying Google Chrome. It's supposed to do, oh, a lot of stuff, none of which I understand. All I know is this: IT PATTERNS MY SCREEN WITH DESIGNER TOGS. Right now, I'm typing away under a banner of Tory Burch orange and pink. Maybe tomorrow I'll try some Lilly Pulitzer print (if it's a grey day especially). Ta da!
Other designs available include Jonathan Adler, Matthew Williamson, Delft (the famous Dutch porcelain), Kate Spade, Todd Oldham, Vivienne Westwood, Charlotte Ronson, and Oscar de la Renta!
For a real article about technical stuff Chrome actually does, instead of just what it looks like, visit here

VERN - YIPPEE!!

I just had the awesome opportunity to visit the Junior League of Huntsville's Girls' Night Out and meet (Drumroll please!  Cue trumpets!) Vern Yip!!!  Not only is he a Design Star (literally, he judged the HGTV show of the same name), former Trading Spaces guru, and host of Deserving Design - he is also a wonderfully gracious man.  The ladies gathered all had a fabulous time as he shared stories and more than a few great decorating tips.  He also generously paused to talk with Sanity Fair, and I'm delighted to be able to share some of his thoughts with you here.  Look for more to come (plus pics!) tomorrow!  Until then, this stunning table spread by Vern will have to hold you over - and, you can catch his show tomorrow on HGTV at 2 p.m., EST.

More to come!

xoxo Sanity Fair

Fashion Paparazzi

I'm not a huge follower of celeb fashion, but I am a fan of Anne Hathaway (hello, Devil Wears Prada).  When I stumbled across these snaps of her in Valentino at the Rodeo Walk of Style event, I had to share.  Can you be cutting edge modern and floral feminine at the same time?  YES, says Anne. Note the nude heels - they keep the outfit from being too girly, and put the focus on the dress.

Here's the outfit - take notice, brunettes! This is the look for you.

Here's the dress alone and a side shot of the coat.

P.S. I really like the touch of aqua in the ring - just to shake the color wheel up a bit.

Oscar and Advertising

The New York Times has as interesting article on Oscar fashions and the little ol' product plug.
"In this economy, nobody is taking chances that brands won’t get a plug. Makers of fashion and expensive jewelry typically reap millions of dollars in free publicity from the Oscars." Title link above.
